I guess that made me espcially sensitive toward what Hesse had to say, maybe more so than necessary :PThosaenghttps://www.blogger.com/profile/11063393708880252099noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-35767612.post-53886370253962983882007-02-15T06:47:00.000-08:002007-02-15T06:47:00.000-08:00โอ้ ผมเองก็ไม่เคยคิดถึงโทมัน มานในแง่ไดโอนิซุส อพอ...

พี่หมายความว่าไงครับ writing about the religion of his "other" ใครคือ "other" ในที่นี้ครับlaughable-loveshttps://www.blogger.com/profile/04462755298243778712noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-35767612.post-38999885925783043472007-02-14T15:33:00.000-08:002007-02-14T15:33:00.000-08:00It's interesting what you said about Apollo and Di...It's interesting what you said about Apollo and Dionysus. Thomas Mann was obviously interested in this binary, but I've never thought of it in reference to Hesse before. I am wondering what you think about the fact that, in the novel, Siddthartha doesn't feel like becoming the Buddha's disciple but wants to go out and seek his own truth. I kind of see here a juxtaposition between an individualistic and Western approach and a more collectivistic mentality of Asian people. Do you think Hesse is portraying the former as better than the latter? I kind of feel that he is, but that may just be my own prejudice against a white man writing about the religion of his "Other."Thosaenghttps://www.blogger.com/profile/11063393708880252099noreply@blogger.com
